Vintage Songs

This old house was sitting close to the road on highway 3. At first, I passed it. While passing, I glanced over and saw this gorgeous upright piano on the front porch. I turned around. I rarely get close to the places I am photographing. I try to respect the owner’s property and keep my distance, admiring from afar. This time, I wanted so…

Millstone Plantation

Millstone Plantation, officially known as Millstone Institute of Preservation, was the host of the Farm Tour 2017.

Wayside Flowers

The flowers that bloom in the Spring are always so beautiful, vibrant and colorful. I look forward to Spring every year but this year, I have come to appreciate the flowers of Fall. The flowers I have seen this Fall have mainly been on the side of the road. Yellow, orange, red and muted purples dot the countryside. I am thankful for the colors…

My Favorite Shade of Green

The different shades of green make this picture for me. Green weeds, green cotton plants and pine trees are country to the core. Of course, the grain silo makes my heart happy even if it’s only partially visible.

Vintage Treasures

I love vintage everything, especially in the country. This beautiful barn and classic car caught my eye while traveling down a back road I had not been on before.

This park is the main entrance into the legendary Okefenokee Swamp, which is one of Georgia’s seven natural wonders. The tour guide took us deep into the swamp, turned off the boat motor and let us enjoy the sounds of the swamp.¬†The silence of the swamp was…

A Wild Experience!

My family and I spent the weekend in Columbus, Georgia. It was the first real family vacation we have had in several years. From walking through an abandoned cemetery to getting slobbered on by water buffalo, we had quite an adventure. Of course, I took plenty of pictures. Providence Canyon (aka Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon) is a Georgia state park and was formed by…

Cotton Flowers

This is a flower of a cotton plant. Our clothes are made of this same cotton. The cream or yellow flowers open in the early morning hours. During this time, the male and female flower parts expand rapidly. On the second day, the petals of the cotton flower turn pink. The flower dries up and drops off, forming a boll, which is the fluffy,…

A Day in April

I took this picture because this area reminded me of Little House on the Prairie. A pasture with a tree here and there against the great expanse of the blue sky.
